Design Your Best-Fitting Menstrual Cup

MeLuna lets you choose firmness, cup height, diameter, and handle style separately. This page follows the same order you will use while shopping: first firmness, then height, then diameter, then handle.

Design your perfect MeLuna menstrual cup by choosing firmness, height, diameter, and handle

Follow the Same Order You Will Use While Shopping

Your final cup model is built from four separate decisions. Choosing in this order keeps the research process aligned with MeLuna collections and product listings.

Choose Firmness

Start with Classic or Sport. This determines how easily the cup folds and how strongly it resists compression.

Choose Height

Choose Standard or Shorty based on cervix height and available internal space.

Choose Size

Choose the diameter that supports a reliable seal and enough capacity for the height you selected.

Choose Handle

Finish with Ball, Ring, or Stem based on grip, added reach, and removal preference.

Why height comes before diameter: Your ideal diameter may change when you choose Shorty instead of Standard. For example, someone who wears a Standard Large may choose a Shorty XL to preserve more capacity.

Step 1: Choose Your Firmness

Firmness affects folding, opening, seal strength, pressure resistance, and removal. MeLuna offers Classic and Sport.

MeLuna Classic

Classic is the better starting point for most users. It balances easy folding with enough spring to open and form a seal.

  • Better for beginners
  • Easier to fold and remove
  • Comfortable for everyday wear
  • Suitable for light to moderate activity
  • Best choice when cup compression is not a problem

MeLuna Sport

Sport is 25% firmer than Classic and is designed to resist compression from strong pelvic floor and core muscles.

  • Better for experienced cup users
  • Useful for running, lifting, climbing, martial arts, and intense training
  • Helps when a more flexible cup collapses during activity
  • Creates a stronger seal
  • Requires more control during folding and removal

Important Sport warning

The firmer material can make folding and breaking the seal more difficult. MeLuna Sport is not recommended for beginners or people with limited finger dexterity or grip strength.

Firmness cannot correct an inadequate diameter. If your cup leaks because it is too narrow, a firmer cup in the same diameter may still leak.

Feature Classic Sport
Firmness Balanced and easier to control Firmest MeLuna material
Insertion Easier to fold Requires more hand strength
Removal Easier seal release Stronger seal, more care needed
Best for Beginners, daily wear, moderate activity Experienced users, strong pelvic floor, intense activity

Step 2: Choose Your Cup Height

Cup height should match cervix position and available internal space. Height affects comfort, stability, reach, and capacity.

Low cervix

Choose Shorty

Shorty is designed for users whose cervix sits close to the vaginal entrance or who find standard-height cups too long.

  • Reduced cup-body height
  • Less internal space required
  • Lower capacity than Standard
  • Available in Classic and Sport
Average cervix

Choose Standard

Standard height is the best option for most users. It provides greater stability and capacity when enough internal space is available.

  • More stable in an average vaginal canal
  • Less likely to tilt or tip than Shorty
  • More capacity than Shorty
  • Easier to reach than a cup that sits too high
High cervix

Choose Standard With Added Reach

A high cervix usually needs Standard height. Pair a Ring Handle with a Nupsi extension when additional reach is helpful.

  • Standard cup body for stability and capacity
  • Ring Handle for secure grip
  • Nupsi extension for added reach
  • Do not choose Shorty only because removal feels difficult

Why Shorty can leak with an average or high cervix

When extra space is available, a Shorty cup may have more room to tilt or tip over. This can break the seal and cause leaks. Shorty should be chosen because the standard cup body is too long, not because a smaller-looking cup seems easier.

Step 3: Choose Your Size

After choosing height, select your size. With MeLuna, size mainly refers to cup diameter, which helps determine seal, stability, comfort, and capacity.

Signs the diameter may be too small

  • The cup opens fully but still leaks
  • The cup slides down
  • The cup shifts during movement
  • You need more capacity
  • A previous narrow cup did not stay sealed

Signs the diameter may be too large

  • Insertion feels unnecessarily difficult
  • The cup creates pressure or discomfort
  • Removal requires excessive folding
  • The cup cannot open comfortably
  • A smaller diameter previously sealed well
MeLuna size Diameter General use
Small 38 mm Narrowest option, often chosen for specific anatomical needs or younger first-time users
Medium 41 mm Light flow and users who need a narrower diameter
Large 44 mm Common starting point for moderate flow and many average-fit users
XL 47 mm More capacity, multiple vaginal births, or users who know they need a larger diameter

Shorty users may need a larger diameter

Shortening the cup body reduces capacity. Someone who uses Standard Large may choose Shorty XL to preserve more capacity. Do not assume the same diameter is always ideal when switching between Standard and Shorty.

Step 4: Choose Your Handle

The handle helps you locate and guide the cup during removal. It should not be used to pull out a cup before the seal is released.

Adds about 10 mm

Ball Handle

The most compact option. Best for users who need minimal added length and feel comfortable locating the cup base.

  • Smallest handle profile
  • Good for limited internal space
  • Less grip than Ring or Stem
Adds about 13 mm

Ring Handle

Offers the most secure grip and works with the Nupsi extension for a high cervix.

  • Easy to locate and grasp
  • Good balance of grip and length
  • Best option for Nupsi compatibility
Adds about 16 mm

Stem Handle

Provides the most built-in reach and can be trimmed when less length is needed.

  • Longest standard handle
  • Helpful for beginners and average-to-higher cervix
  • Can be shortened carefully

Always release the seal first

Pinch the base or press the cup wall inward before guiding the cup out. Pulling only on the handle can create discomfort and may damage the handle.

Review Your Final Cup Model

Before shopping, confirm that you have made all four decisions.

Firmness

Classic for easier folding and removal, or Sport for greater compression resistance.

Height

Shorty for a low cervix, or Standard for an average or high cervix.

Size

Choose Small, Medium, Large, or XL based on diameter, fit, leak history, capacity, and the height you selected.

Handle

Choose Ball for compactness, Ring for grip, or Stem for the most added reach.

Your final description should sound like this

  • Classic, Standard, Large, Ring
  • Sport, Shorty, XL, Ball
  • Classic, Standard, Medium, Stem

On each product listing, you can select from all available size options. Start from the firmness or height collection that matches your first two decisions, then choose your preferred handle listing and select the diameter.
