Menstrual Cup Disinfection Options
How to use your microwave sanitizer, plug-in steam sanitizer, and Milton Mini Tablets.
Clean your cup first. Disinfection does not replace routine cleaning. Wash and rinse your menstrual cup before using any of these methods.
Microwave Sanitizer
How to Use
- Clean your menstrual cup before sanitizing.
- Place the cup inside the container and add enough water for the cup to float freely.
- Place the lid loosely on top so steam can escape. Do not seal the lid tightly.
- Microwave on high for 3 to 5 minutes total. Depending on your microwave’s wattage, the water may take 1 to 3 minutes to reach a full boil. Keep it boiling for at least 2 more minutes.
- Water and steam will be very hot. Wait for the container and its contents to cool before removing it from the microwave or taking out your cup.
Important: Sanitizing does not replace routine cleaning. Clean your menstrual cup before using the microwave sanitizer.

Plug-in Steam Sanitizer / Steamer
How to Use
- Thoroughly clean your menstrual cup first.
- Add 1 teaspoon (5 mL) of purified water to the device.
- Place the menstrual cup inside with the handle facing up.
- Put the cover in place and press the power button.
- Do not move the device or open the cover while it is operating. Steam will be very hot.
- Allow the device and cup to cool before handling, then allow the cup to dry completely before storage.
Important: This device sanitizes your menstrual cup but does not clean it. Wash the cup before steam sanitizing.

Milton Mini Tablets
How to Use with a Menstrual Cup
- Clean and rinse your menstrual cup.
- Dissolve 1 Milton Mini Tablet for every 60 mL of cold water. For example, use 2 tablets with 120 mL of water. Let the tablets dissolve fully.
- Fully immerse the cup and release any trapped air bubbles.
- Leave the cup immersed for at least 15 minutes. Then remove it, rinse it, and let it dry completely before storing. Do not store the cup in the solution.
- Discard the solution after 24 hours. Follow the package directions for any other use and disposal instructions.
Container Details
The food-safe polypropylene container holds up to 150 mL and includes measurement marks. It fits MeLuna menstrual cups up to XL and can also be used for microwave sanitizing with water.
