The hemoglobin in blood can be a powerful colorant. To avoid stains from setting into your cup it is important to clean the cup BEFORE disinfection. Heat can set a stain that means using heat disinfection on a cup that is still stained can set the stains permanently. Stains of course do not affect use but make the cup less attractive.

Please make your best effort to remove any stainse before disinfection for this reason.

This kit contains a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide. Once Hydrogen Peroxide is opened and exposed to air it loses potency. Keep bottle tightly closed after use.

Submerse your MeLuna in peroxide in the disinfection cup and leave submersed for 5-10 minutes.

How do I use the disinfection cup?

Disinfection in a microwave
Please place your MeLuna with the handle facingdown into the disinfection cup and fill it up with water. The MeLuna has to be floating. Then put the provided lid on the cup. The correct wattage settings depend on your microwave model. The water must be boiling for the disinfection to be effective. If in doubt, please consider your microwave manual. Most customers use medium power level / wattage for 3 - 5 minutes. The cup's lid must not be completely sealed: otherwise the steam produced by the boiling water cannot escape.
The disinfection cup is now very hot because of the heating process. Please take appropriate safety measures (pot holder, oven mittens) for your hands and be very careful when removing the disinfection cup from the microwave. Consider letting the cup and its contents cool down inside the microwave to be on the safe side.

Disinfection with Milton Mini tablets:
Fill your MeLuna cleaning cup with 75mL of cold water, then dissolve 1 Milton Mini tablet. After the tablet is completely dissolved, carefully place your MeLuna menstrual cup with the handle facing the bottom in the cleaning cup and completely submerge it. Be careful not to spill the desinfection fluid. For MeLuna menstrual cups in size L and XL the fluid may not be sufficient. Please add water until the cup is fully submerged.
Let sit for 15 minutes, then discard the disinfection fluid. The disinfection process is completed after 15 minutes, we do not recommend to extend the disinfection time! Too long disinfection times cause discoloration of the cleaning cup and the MeLuna menstrual cup. We recommend using a timer (e.g. an egg timer) to observe the desinfection time.
